Barham conducts an inspection tour in Jenin and learns about the reality of education

Jenin Maan – The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, today, Thursday, a tour of Jenin Governorate; With the aim of inspecting the progress of the educational process, and holding meetings with educational staff, events and institutions in Jenin.

Barham began his tour by meeting with the Governor of Jenin, Kamal Abu Al-Rub. The reality of the challenges and violations to which the educational process is exposed due to the occupation and its continuous incursions was recognized.

The Minister expressed his pride in Jenin Governorate, stressing that this tour embodies true communication with the educational field, support for the educational family and the people in light of the violations affecting the governorate and its institutions, especially its educational institutions, and ensuring every effort that would advance education and preserve the teacher’s status, prestige and stability despite the difficulties. Evoking the suffering of schools, universities, students, children and te
aching staff in the Gaza Strip, which is still subjected to fierce occupation aggression.

Barham conveyed to the governor and to the Jenin events the greetings of Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, stressing that the government is concerned with providing all emergency needs.

In turn, Abu Al-Rub stressed the necessity of providing all the elements and resources that guarantee the stability of education and adherence to it. As it constitutes a pillar for the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, he pointed out the ongoing occupation’s violation of the governorate and its institutions, which affects students and educational staff.

The Minister was accompanied on his tour by the Assistant Undersecretary for Student Affairs, Sadiq Al-Khadour, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ayoub Alyan, and a number of general directors, in the presence of representatives from the Fatah movement region, institutions, and official, civil, and community events.

The
tour included a visit to Al-Arqa Boys’ Secondary School and meeting with its staff and some of its students, and Al-Sila Al-Harithiya Boys’ Secondary School, and the opening of the ‘We Will See the Sun’ exhibition about the struggles of prisoners in the Jabriyat Mixed Basic School, and a tour of the female vocational workshops (beauty and graphic design unit) in a girls’ school. Al-Khansa secondary school.

The tour included a meeting with educational staff in Jenin, at Al-Khansaa School. The heads of departments were listened to, the reality of the needs was felt, and the reality of the challenges were learned in light of the current circumstances, in the presence of the Director General of Jenin Education, Salam Al-Taher.

Warm, dry weather continues across most regions until Sunday

Amman: Persistent warm and dry weather conditions are expected across most regions until Sunday, with temperatures forecast to exceed seasonal averages by approximately 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest report from the Jordan Meteorological Department, Thursday temperatures are set to rise significantly, resulting in relatively hot conditions over high mountainous areas and warmer temperatures elsewhere. Dusty conditions may prevail intermittently throughout the day, accompanied by the appearance of clouds at higher altitudes. Moderate-speed dry southeasterly winds are forecast, occasionally becoming active.

The impact of the hot and dry air mass currently affecting the region is expected to diminish by Friday. While temperatures will decrease, they are anticipated to remain above the usual norms for this time of year. Therefore, warm conditions will persist over mountainous regions, while it will be relatively hotter across other areas. Cloud cover is expected at medium and high altitudes,
with moderate northerly winds, occasionally becoming active and causing dust disturbances, especially in desert regions.

The weather outlook for Saturday and Sunday remains consistent, with warm conditions persisting over mountainous areas and relatively hot temperatures expected elsewhere.

In terms of temperatures, highs and lows today are expected to range between 36 – 21 degrees Celsius in East Amman, 34 – 19 in West Amman, 31 – 20 in the northern highlands, and 32 – 18 in the Sharah Highlands. Meanwhile, the northern Jordan Valley is expected to experience temperatures between 42 – 23, the southern Jordan Valley 43 – 26, the Dead Sea 42 – 25, and the Gulf of Aqaba 42 – 26 degrees Celsius.

A man was killed in a shooting in Lod

Lod – Ma’an – A man in his thirties was killed in Lod in a shooting crime at dawn on Thursday.

The Israeli police began investigating the circumstances of the incident in the city of Lod and searching for the perpetrators of the crime, in addition to collecting evidence from the crime scene.

The Criminal Investigation Department reviewed the forensic report in an attempt to determine the circumstances of the crime.

Forming an investigation committee to follow up on the circumstances of a plastic factory fire in the agricultural industrial city of Jericho

Jericho – Together – The Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Hussein Hamayel, announced today, Thursday, the formation of an investigation committee to follow up on the merits, conditions and circumstances of the unfortunate fire that occurred this morning, in the factory of the Tlaib Company for Plastic and Household Materials Trading in the agricultural industrial city of Jericho.

The governor confirmed that the committee, which was formed in the presence of the Minister of National Economy, Muhammad Youssef Al-Amour, and the Minister of Industry, Arafat Asfour, began investigation work from the first moment of the fire accident, which resulted in the death of one of the workers and a number of cases of suffocation.

The Minister of Interior inspects the governorates of Qalqilya and Salfit

Qalqilya – Salfit – Together – The Minister of Interior, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih, inspected the governorates of Qalqilya and Salfit.

This came during his visit to the Interior Directorate in Qalqilya Governorate and he was briefed on the progress of work there, stressing the need to commit to providing the best services to citizens easily and smoothly.

FSC: Jordan-hosted regional emergency response center ‘underway’


Amman: A meeting of Jordan’s Food Security Council (FSC) for the year 2024 was held Thursday, headed by Minister of Agriculture and its Chairman, Khaled Hneifat, in presence of its members.

The meeting discussed a slew of items and decisions, primarily endorsing procedures to sign the proposed agreement between Jordanian government, represented by FSC and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), according to a ministry statement.

The agreement seeks to provide technical support for activities and projects in the field of Jordan’s food security and systems, as well as food waste activities within the framework of WFP’s Jordan Country Strategic Plan (CSP) (2023-2027).

The discussions also went over the FSC’s draft budget proposal and future plans to improve Jordan’s ranking on World Food Security Index 2024-2026, the statement noted.

Hneifat indicated that a letter was sent to WFP to establish a regional center in Jordan for emergency response, aimed to provide humanitarian support to affected countri
es in cases of disasters through Jordan Hashemite Charitable Organization (JHCO).

Hneifat added that WFP welcomed the request and is currently working on preparing a memorandum of understanding for this purpose.
