Journalists death toll in Gaza rises to 140

Amman: The death toll of journalists has risen to 140 since the beginning of the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the government media office in Gaza.

Earlier, the media office accused the occupation of deliberately killing journalists with the aim of suppressing the Palestinian narrative, attempting to suppress the truth and obstructing the delivery of news and information to regional and international public opinion.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) had previously condemned the killing of journalists in Gaza, calling for protecting them from the violence of the occupation so that they could perform their work.

The dollar continues to rise…the euro has crossed the 4-shekel barrier


Bethlehem – Ma’an – This morning (Wednesday), the euro crossed the barrier of four shekels (4.02) with the value of the shekel declining by about three-quarters of a percent. The dollar also rose by about 0.8 percent and exceeded the barrier of 3.73 shekels.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that if security instability continues, forecasters expect another increase in foreign exchange rates later this month. This increase may result in the fifth consecutive rise in fuel prices at the beginning of May.

She added that it is doubtful whether the Bank of Israel will be able to reduce the interest rate in the economy by a quarter of a percent next Monday.

Solidarity Association distributes more than 7,000 Ramadan food baskets

Nablus – Together – With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the Solidarity Charitable Association distributed food parcels to the families of orphans and humanitarian cases in Nablus Governorate with the support of philanthropists in the governorate, and as every year, the Association provides basic food supplies sufficient for one family for a period of time and collects them. In the form of a food basket, it is distributed to registered families.

There was an urgent need this year to increase and expand the amount of benefit in light of the difficult economic situation that the entire country is going through, which affected many families who lost their source of income, as there are many workers who have not received income for more than 6 months in addition to factory workers. Which closed its doors and many workers were laid off due to difficult conditions.

Maqbool said that the association aims to reduce the burden on these families by supporting them with food supplies that meet their needs,
as the number of food parcels provided reached more than 7,000 food parcels that were distributed to the families of orphans in the association and families of difficult humanitarian cases. The packages were distributed this year through several regions, and 7 purchasing centers were chosen in addition to meat centers so that the beneficiaries could choose their needs with their own hands and create a food basket that would suffice them and achieve the desired goal of the Ramadan charitable project carried out by the association.

The head of the Solidarity Charity Association said that the campaign included all the families of orphans in Nablus Governorate, with its villages and camps, registered with the association, in addition to thousands of humanitarian cases, according to pre-prepared lists within the association’s schedules, calling on the major companies operating in the region to contribute to providing ongoing assistance.

King, UN chief stress need to protect aid workers in Gaza

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II and United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres, in a phone call on Wednesday, stressed the need to protect workers in humanitarian and relief organisations in Gaza.

The phone call covered the dangerous situation in Gaza, including the recent killing of members of the World Central Kitchen organisation while delivering vital aid to Gazans.

Since the war on Gaza started, nearly 196 aid workers have been killed in the Strip, 175 of whom worked for UN agencies.

His Majesty said Jordan will continue to make every effort to deliver humanitarian, medical, and relief aid by all means available, in coordination with various international organisations and partners.

The King urged the international community to step up efforts immediately to end the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

For his part, Guterres commended Jordan’s role in delivering humanitarian aid to Gazans through all possible methods.

Red Cross: Gaza’s hospitals have turned into rubble

Gaza – Together – The International Committee of the Red Cross said that Gaza’s hospitals have been turned into rubble and humanitarian workers are being killed.

She added, “Less aid and health care means less hope for Gaza, and every collapse in the health system is devastation for civilians.”

Since the outbreak of the war approximately 6 months ago, the Israeli army has launched a number of operations that targeted hospitals, medical facilities and the surrounding neighborhoods, accusing Hamas of using them as a cover for its activities. But the movement strongly denied that its fighters used Al-Shifa and other health facilities.

Regarding the situation of the rest of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Salah pointed out that ’30 hospitals were targeted.’

Iftaa Department issued 28,294 fatwas in 1st half of Ramadan-Official

Amman: 28,294 fatwas (religious edicts) were recorded during the first half of Ramadan, an average of 1,886 fatwas per day, media spokesperson for Iftaa Department , Dr. Ahmed Harasis, announced.

In a statement on Wednesday, Harasis indicated that 2,353 fatwas were issued on the first day of Ramadan.
