“Higher Education” announces scholarships in Japan, India and Indonesia

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced today the start of applications for the Scientific Researcher Scholarship offered by the Japanese government.

The Ministry also announced the availability of a number of scholarships in India for the academic year 2024-2025, in the fields of bachelor’s and postgraduate studies (Master’s and Doctorate).

The Ministry also announced the availability of a number of scholarships at President’s University in Indonesia for the academic year 2024-2025, in the field of bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian countries call for a ceasefire in Gaza

Tashkent – Together – The countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asia called, on Monday, for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to devastating and continuous Israeli aggression for more than 6 months.

This came in a joint statement, following the second ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between the two sides in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

The Gulf Cooperation Council includes: Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, and Kuwait, while the Central Asian countries include: Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The foreign ministers of both sides called on the international community to “take a serious and firm stance for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and provide protection for civilians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.”

They also called on Israel to “fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law to provide all humanitarian assistance and basic
needs to the people of Gaza without hindrance.”

The ministers stressed “the necessity of (re)operating the electricity and water lines, and allowing the entry of fuel, food and medicine for the residents of Gaza.”

INTERIOR MINISTER CALLS FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN NORTH LEBANON, AKKAR


Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, has issued a decree inviting the municipal electoral bodies in the districts of North Lebanon and Akkar to elect members of the municipal councils, determine the number of members for each, elect mayors and optional councils, and specify the number of mayors and members for each in the districts of North Lebanon and Akkar, on May 19, 2024.

Jordan Offers Condolences to Oman after Tragic Floods

Amman: Jordan extended on Sunday heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Oman over the deaths caused by torrential rains in the Al Mudhaibi region yesterday, resulting in fatalities, injuries, and missing individuals.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sufian Qudah, conveyed Jordan’s solidarity with Oman during this tragic incident, offering sincere condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a swift recovery for the injured while hoping for the safety of the missing individuals.

Qudah confirmed that no Jordanian citizens were among the victims or those reported missing.
