APHC-AJK chapter condemns 1993 Hazratbal tragedy

Islamabad, October 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyet Conference-AJK Chapter has condemned the burning of Islamic library during the 1993 siege of Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar by Indian troops.

The APHC-AJK Chapter held a meeting in Islamabad to mark the 19th anniversary of Hazratbal tragedy. The meeting was presided over by its Convener Mehmood Ahmad Sagar.

The tragedy led to a series of protest demonstrations against Indian occupation of Kashmir. On October 22, 1993 Indian forces in order to quell the protests opened indiscriminate fire, killing 37 innocent Kashmiris.

The speakers on the occasion said that occupied Kashmir had been converted into a military garrison. The participants of the meeting prayed for all the martyred of in Kashmir.

Those who attended the programme include Syed Yousuf Naseem, Mir Tahir Masood, Faiz Naqshbandi, Manzoor-ul-Haq, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Altaf Hussain Wani, Abdul Majeed Malik, Nisar Mirza, Abdul Hameed lone, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Khadim Hussain, Tufail Altaf Butt, Dawood Khan Yousufzai and Abdullah Gilani.
