Aoun follows up on issue of disappearance of Imam Sadr and his companions

SEPTEMBER 3, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Change and Reform Bloc Head, MP Michel Aoun, met on Wednesday at his Rabieh residence with the Lebanese Council dedicated to follow up on the issue of Imam Moussa al-Sadr’s disappearance which includes former MP Hassan Yaacoub, political adviser to Imam Sadr and member of his political bureau, Sayyed Mohammed Saad, Akl Hamieh and Zaher Abbas Badreddine.

After the meeting, Yaacoub said “the disappearance of Imam Moussa Sadr and his companion concerns general Aoun and all the Lebanese as it is both humanitarian and patriotic.”

“The Change and Reform bloc still considers it a key issue, and General Aoun himself gives maximum attention to this dossier and considers that the network of sources which allied for the vanishing of the Imam and his companions are the same ones which are fighting against the Lebanese entity. They may be the same ones standing behind ‘Daesh’,” he corroborated.

“We discussed the latest developments in this case and we deliberated in keeping the issue alive and up for serious follow-up. From this standpoint, we will pursue the subject through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said, assuring that Aoun would discuss all the details of this matter up till the return of the disappeared Persons.

On a different note, Aoun met Head of the defense committee in the Italian Senate, Senator Nicola Latorre, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito.
