Dead Sea, October 13 (QNA) – Qatari racer Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah won the fourth round of the 2012 Middle East Rally Championship, the Jordan Rally.
Al Attiyah said that he came under a lot of pressure by Lebanese driver Roger Feghali at the beginning of the race. The Qatari champion said that it was only the 10 seconds, at the beginning of the race, which cost Feghali the pole position.
The Lebanese Driver came in second, followed by Saudi driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi. the Qatari driver won four of the day’s eight special stages and now holds an 18.8 second advantage over the Lebanese driver Roger Feghali going into Saturday’s final day.
The UAE’s Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi made a low-key return to the sport after a 12-month absence and was a solid fourth overall, ahead of the championship leader Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who is fifth and three minutes, 54.7 seconds adrift of Al Attiyah. The UAE driver will fully return starting 2013, after he had an operation in his leg.
Current leader of the Middle-East Rally Championship Abdulaziz Al Kuwari came in fifth, 3.57 minutes behind Al Attiyah. If the later manages to finish first on Saturday, he will cut his deficit with Kuwari from 22 points to just seven.
