KHARTOUM, The Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID), a regional partner working for the effectiveness of the first Regional Forum for Smart Agriculture, has signed a number of agreements for smart partnerships here Tuesday.

The regional form was organized jointly by the Arab Organization for Information Technology and Communication, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ministry of Information and Communication.

The first Regional Forum for Smart Agriculture is being held this week at Khartoum’s Friendship Hall under the theme, “Towards Sustainable Agricultural Development Through the Internet of Things and New Technological Trends”.

It is being attended by the Ministers of Agriculture and Technology from member countries of the AAAID, whose president, Mohamed Bin Obaid Al-Mazrowei, on Tuesday signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Arab Organization for Information and Communication Technology.

The agreements are aimed at framing co-operation between the three parties in common areas of interest. The CEO of Sudatel Group announced the training of 100 farmers in the field of smart agriculture to enable them to use all means of technology and modern communications through the establishment of a model farm, pledging to provide all means of technology.

For its part, the AAAID expressed its readiness to co-operate with the group to establish a model farm based on modern technologies in the agricultural field and to enable agricultural cadres to work at the highest level of modern agricultural technologies in Sudan and Arab countries in supporting of the Arab Food Security Project.
