About 7,500 hectares of barley and 5,800 hectares of wheat harvested in Daraa

The harvested areas of barley crop in Daraa province has amounted to 7,500 hectares and about 5,800 hectares of wheat.

Head of the Plant Production Department in the Agricultural Directorate Eng. Wael Al- Ahmad said in a statement to SANA on Wednesday that the harvesting process continued and it is nearly completed.

“The harvested area of barley crop for this season is 9,952 hectares and of wheat 62,658 hectares,” al-Ahmad added.

Number of tourism arrivals in Syria has increased by 40 % in five months

Tourism arrivals in the country has increased over the past five months as compare to the number recorded in 2022.

This is due to strategies and positive procedures adopted by the Ministry of Tourism to improve tourism services.

In this context, Director of Planning and Cooperation at the Ministry, Ahed al-Za’eem stated to SANA reporter, “The total number of tourism arrivals in Syria grew 40% over the past five months to reach 727 thousand tourists-652 thousand Arabs, 75 thousand foreigners- as compared to 519 thousand in 2022.

As for domestic tourism, al-Za’eem said the Ministry is “finalizing several projects to activate domestic tourism, notably signing an agreement with Tartous City Council in addition to the preparations for launching the Syrian Youth Tourism Summit next September in cooperation with the Distinction and Creativity Agency.”

Ruba Sasila Director of Marketing and Tourism Information at the Ministry highlighted the vital role of the Ministry in promoting and marketing tourism during its participation in Arab and international events, conferences and exhibitions held in Russia, China, India, Iraq, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, which significantly increased the number of arrivals in Syria.

The Ministry’s plan includes holding various events s to promote domestic tourism, among of which organizing the Flower Fair, activities to celebrate World Tourism Day and cultural festivals in the tourist attractions and archaeological sites, added Sasila.
