Syria appreciates humanitarian initiatives of Belarus towards Syrian people, Ambassador

Syrian Ambassador to Belarus, Mohammad al-Omrani, said Syria highly appreciates the humanitarian initiatives of Belarus towards the Syrian people which show the noble spirit of the Belarussian people and leadership.

Omrani, meeting Assistant to Defense Minister of Belarus, Valery Revenko, described as strong and historic the relations between Syria and Belarus, stressing Syria’s willingness to boost these relations in the face of common challenges.

He handed Mr. Revenko a message of appreciation and thanks sent by Minister of Defense Ali Mahmoud Abbas to his Belarussian counterpart Viktor Khrenin on the humanitarian aid extended by the Belarusian military medical team to the earthquake-affected people in Aleppo.

Revenko, for his part, said that the earthquake that hit Syria on Feb. 6th has also struck the hearts of the leadership and people of Belarus, as the Belarussian leadership issued orders to extend the immediate aid to those affected by the Earthquake.

MUFTI DERIAN CONDEMNS ISRAELI ATTACKS ON WORSHIPPERS AT AL-AQSA MOSQUE

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdellatif Derian on Thursday condemned the Israeli attacks on worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque as “unspeakable terrorism.” In a statement, Derian urged the international community to take practical measures to ensure the implementation of the international resolutions that preserve the rights of the Palestinians to their lands, sanctities, and state. He also called for punishing attackers.

Syrian Pianist Awarded First Prize in Russia

The Syrian pianist Agob Kanouzi won the First Prize in 9th International Competition for soloist international music competition held in Russia under the theme “21st century artists-initiatives, achievements and prospects”.

The Russian Musical Society and the Sino-Russian Foundation for Cultural and Artistic Development have organized the competition.

It was supported by First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, with the jury comprising a group of Russian academic musicians.

Agob Kanouzi is a piano teacher at the Damascus-based Higher Institute of Music and a Master’s degree student of music education at Damascus University.

JUDGE ABU SAMRA POSTPONES LOOKING INTO STATE’S LAWSUIT AGAINST RIAD SALAMEH UNTIL MAY 18

Beirut First Investigative Judge Charbel Abu Samra has postponed looking into the State Prosecution’s lawsuit against Central Bank Governor, Riad Salameh, his brother Raja Salameh, and his assistant Marianne Hoayek, until forthcoming May 18. The decision came after the lawyers of the defendants submitted a memo objecting to the lawsuit filed against their clients by the Authority of Cases at the Ministry of Justice without prior permissions of the finance minister.

A project of building some 1000 residential units in Lattakia in Cooperation with UAE Red Crescent

In cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), Lattakia governorate launched a project involves building prefabricated accommodation. for those affected by the earthquake in the province, including 1000 units distributed on seven areas there.

The total area of the project is 100 dunums, on which Lattakia province accomplished rehabilitating the infrastructure, in preparation for setting up these units over seven sites.

Lattakia Governor, Amer Hilal, said that the brothers in the UAE were alongside of the Syrians since the earthquake occurred, and extended a hand of assistance through launching of “Gallant Knight / 2” operation in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.as they participated in the search and rescue along with their constant relief and humanitarian support.

Head of the UAE Red Crescent delegation, Mohammed al Ku’aibi, said that since the first day of the earthquake, his country constituted a team to rescue the affected people, along with establishing air relief bridges to offer food and health items, explaining that constructing theses shelters would ease pressure on the shelter centers.

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday received at the Second presidency in Ain El-Tineh, Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Dr. Yasser Alawi, with whom he discussed the current general situation, the latest developments and the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Egypt. Speaker Berri also received in Ain El-Tineh, MP Ahmed Al-Khai, with whom he discussed political and economic developments, as well as legislative and developmental affairs.
