FoodTech Challenge Logo

LG RECEIVES AHRI PERFORMANCE AWARD FOR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Company Secures Sought-after Industry Recognition for Its Advanced HVAC Solutions in Six Different Product Categories

SEOUL, South Korea, April 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — LG Electronics (LG) has been honored by the Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) with a Performance Award for the fifth year in a row.

LG Air-cooled Inverter Scroll Chiller

Established in 1953, AHRI is a globally-respected trade association currently with more than 350 member companies and representing the world’s HVAC, refrigeration, and water heating solution manufacturers.

For the Performance Award, AHRI enlists the services of Intertek, a leading third-party standards, certification and testing organization, to assess if actual product performance is consistent with the specifications listed by the manufacturer. Only those companies whose HVAC offerings have passed the primary performance evaluation for three consecutive years are considered for the Performance Award.

A total of 55 LG HVAC solutions across six categories passed AHRI’s stringent evaluation process, marking the third year in a row from 2019 to 2021 that all products submitted by LG have done so. The tested models belong to the following categories: Variable Refrigerant Airflow (VRF), Unitary Small Heat Pump (USHP), Air-Cooled Chillers, Water-Cooled Chillers, Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHP), and Room Fan Coil Units.

LG Multi V 5

One of the more-than-fifty LG products evaluated included the LG Multi V large-capacity outdoor unit, which utilizes the company’s own Ultimate Inverter Compressor to provide outstanding performance and energy efficiency. Popular worldwide, and especially in Northern hemisphere countries where winters can be long and harsh, LG’s flagship VRF system delivers dependable heating operation, even in temperatures as low as negative-30 degrees Celsius (negative-22 degrees Fahrenheit).

Also tested was LG Multi V Water, a water source cooling system offering better thermal efficiency thanks to the implementation of plate-type heat exchanger. LG’s solution also reduces energy consumption by adjusting the volume of water used.

The air-cooled Inverter Scroll Chiller also leverages advanced inverter technology to achieve a high level of efficiency. Its compactly designed unit delivers an impressive performance without taking up as much space as other models in its class.

“Earning the AHRI Performance Award for a fifth consecutive year is a testament to the quality, performance and reliability built into every LG HVAC solution,” said James Lee, head of the Air Solution Business Unit at LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “The trust customers have in our products is a major reason for our ongoing success, both in North America and all around the globe. By offering innovative solutions that maximize customer value, we will continue to strengthen our position in the HVAC market and bolster our reputation as an industry leader.”

SPLM/A-IO resumes participation in security mechanisms

South Sudan’s armed opposition group (SPLM/A-IO) led by First Vice President Riek Machar has resumed participation in the security mechanisms after signing a peace deal on the unification of the command structure with the government under President Salva Kiir.

Machar, in a statement issued on Sunday, directed his officials and those engaged in the security structure to resume participation in all the mechanisms with immediate effect.

“Following the signature of the agreement on unification of the command of forces today April 3rd, 2022, in Juba, the SPLM/SPLA-IO leadership hereby lifts the suspension of participation of the SPLM/SPLA-IO in the meetings of security mechanisms namely, JDB, JTSC, JMCC, SDSR Board, CTSAMM, SSM as well the national Transitional Committee and Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission with immediate effects”, noted the statement extended to the Sudan Tribune.

The armed opposition leader made the decision to reverse the suspension after signing with Kiir a deal to unify the command structures of the forces.

The details of the deal will be worked in a matrix expected to be completed in a week.

Sources told the Sudan Tribune on Sunday that the deal gives president Kiir 60% representation in the command structure and 40% to the opposition.

It, however, remains unclear how the opposition would make the distribution of the nominees to fill key positions allocated to each group in the military, police, and national security forces.

The unification of rival armies’ command is one of several crucial unresolved issues holding up the implementation of the 2018 deal to end the country’s bloody civil war.

SRF groups call for confidence-building measures in Sudan

The Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) on Sunday called on the coup leaders to create a conducive environment before an inclusive dialogue to end the political stalemate in Sudan.

Following a deliberative conference in Ad Damazin of Blue Nile State from 24-27 March, the SRF groups launched an initiative aiming to end the political crisis triggered by a coup that end the democratic transition process in Sudan on October 25, 2021.

The SRF roadmap includes talks between the parties to the Constitutional Declaration of 2019 to restore the transitional government. This step will be followed by an all-parties dialogue on issues of governance, constitution-making, and elections.

In statements to the official news agency SUNA, SRF leader Hadi Idris who is also a member of the Sovereign Council called on the military partners to implement the needed requirements before implementing this plan.

“The confidence-building measures include the cessation of violence against peaceful protesters, release of political prisoners from the forces of the revolution and lifting the state of emergency,” he said.

He further added that these measures should be followed by the formation of a neutral fact-finding committee to investigate the killing of protesters.

He stressed that the military component should implement these measures needed t create a suitable atmosphere for dialogue.

Also, the talks between the revolution forces on the formation of the transitional government should include the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC), the military component, the Resistance Committees and the SRF groups.

According to the SRF leader, the UNITAMS and the African Union could facilitate the proposed process and be the guarantors of any agreement reached by the participants.

In a briefing to the Security Council on March 28, Volker Perthes announced they would launch an intensive phase of talks in the next couple of weeks.

The African Union and UNITAMS have a similar approach but they did not announce the details of their plans for who would participate in the talks for the transitional government.

The UN and African Union, also, requested the military leaders to release the political detainees, lift the state of emergence and end the use of violence against protesters.
