12 CONSTRUCTION WORKERS SEEK INDIAN EMBASSY’S HELP OVER UNPAID SALARIES

MUSCAT: Twelve expatriate workers from a construction company in Nizwa have approached the Indian Embassy alleging non-payment of salaries.

“We worked for the company till August, and have not been paid for four months before that,” Suresh MC, one of the workers said.

“After two days of living without water and power at our camp with no money to pay the utility bills, we were forced to demand the company to restore the services,” said Rameshan Vasu and Hassim Abdul Razaq, two other workers.

Meanwhile, P M Jabir, community welfare secretary of Indian Social Club has said, “We have asked our volunteers in Nizwa to look after the workers. They are doing their best to help them.”

The social welfare department of the Indian Embassy said it has received a complaint in this regard and that it is trying to resolve the issue.
