Zasypkin meets Hariri over Russian arms deal

FEBRUARY 17, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, on Tuesday met with Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri over the Russian arms deal to Lebanon.

“I would like to confirm Russia’s highly appreciative position regarding Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s stances which bolster coexistence, independence and national unity,” the diplomat said.

“We have been discussing with Hariri the Russian deal to boost the military capacity of the Lebanese army and security apparatuses. It is worth mentioning that President Hariri was proactive concerning the resumption of negotiations over the Russian arms deal to Lebanon,” Zasypkin said.

He added: “During this meeting, we emphasized the common approach to complete the agreement as soon as possible,” and noted in this regard that rumors to discredit it were far from the truth.
