JANUARY 30, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Friday welcomed at Ain-el-Tineh with the Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
The meeting, also attended by Iran’s Ambassador Mohammad Fathali, featured high on latest developments in Lebanon and the broader Arab region, as well as on the means to bolster the bilateral relations on all levels.
“During the meeting, we confirmed the unswerving stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting security, calm, and stability in Lebanon. We are also keen on internal unity in this brotherly country,” the Iranian official told reporters following the meeting.
“Within this context, we are always keen on building balanced and just ties with all the influential political movements on the Lebanese scene,” he went on to say.
Separately, Berri met with Minister of Social Affairs, Rashid Derbas, with whom he tackled the current general situation.
He also received Head of the Lebanese University, Adnan Sayyed Hussein.
He later met with UNIFIL Commander, General Luciano Portolano, with talks touching on the security situation in the south.
