(Update 1) Nasrallah in memory of martyr leaders: For resuming internal efforts to elect president

FEBRUARY 16, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah called for resuming efforts on the internal arena to address the presidential election’s matter, indicating that the region is heading towards further confrontations and crises.

Sayyid Nasrallah’s words on Monday evening came during “Loyalty and Martyrdom” rally in memory of martyr leaders, at the Sayyid Shuhada complex in Beirut’s southern suburbs, attended by scores of political and party dignitaries.

Opening up today’s commemoration, Sayyid Nasrallah condemned the heinous crime committed by the takfiri “Daash” in Lybia against Egyptian Copts, offering condolences to the Egyptian people and government as well as the Coptic Church.

Nasrallah said that the Party marks every year the memory of the late martyr leaders, Sayyid Abbas Mousawi, Sheikh Ragheb Harb and Hajj Imad Moughnieh, so that the past would remain connected to the present and future.

The Secretary General also indicated that it is important to learn loyalty and honesty from the martyrs and to learn the responsibility of making a decent and dignified future for our people and nation.

Nasrallah also pointed out that the martyrdom of Quneitra martyrs revived the memory of the Commander Imad Mughniyeh’s martyrdom.

On the other hand, Nasrallah extended condolences to the family of late martyr PM Rafik Hariri after the painful incident that shook the region. He also Sayyed Nasrallah offered similar condolences to the families of the martyrs who fell in that ‘agonizing, sorrowful and very dangerous incident.”

Nasrallah also said that Hezbollah supports the call for devising a national anti-terror strategy, saying that “political forces can agree on that.”

On the security plan for the region of the Bekaa, Sayyid Nasrallah reiterated the Party’s ultimate support for such a plan, and said “it must continue because the Bekaa region was suffering from thieves and outlaws who were intimidating people.”

“Besides the security plan in the Bekaa, we need two other things: a developmental plan along with the security plan particularly in Baalbeck-Hermel and Akkar, and the second thing is addressing the problem of tens of thousands of wanted men,” said Nasrallah.

Nasrallah also said that “Today on the eastern mountains, there exists Daash and al-Nusra.. When the snow melts, the state must make up its mind how to deal with these threats on the hills and mountains. A decision must be taken as we renew our tribute to the officers of the Lebanese Army as well as to the Resistance men.”

The Secretary General also called for deepening the relationship between Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement and initialing similar understandings on the national level.

Nasrallah also voiced support to the government and its continued work as an alternative to vacuum.

On the presidential election’s issue, Nasrallah called for resuming efforts on the internal arena to address this matter, rather than awaiting regional changes for the region is heading towards further confrontations and crises.

Turning to the internal dialogue, Nasrallah stressed continued dialogue with Future Movement, which generated some positive matters, in the hope of reaching a positive end.

“We renew our support to any dialogue among all the components of the Lebanese spectrum,” said Nasrallah.

He also indicated that Lebanon is at present influenced by what is happening in the region more than ever, saying that the fate of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and other countries is made in the region.

On the regional situation, Nasrallah reiterated that the threat of the Takfiri movement does not only entail some regimes, but also all countries and peoples, as well as Islam as a religion and a message.

He called on the governments and peoples of the region to work together in the fight against such a terrorist threat, saying that “intellectual, political and field confrontation against terrorism should be regarded in defense of Islam.”

“The worst distortion of Islam in the history of mankind is what Daash is doing,” said Nasrallah, underlining that Daash and Nusra are one in essence, culture and intellect.

The Party leader also called on the people and rulers of the region to confront such a large terrorist threat, stressing the ability to defeat it whoever stands behind it.

Nasrallah urged all to cast hatred aside and join hands in confronting Daash and preventing its expansion, saying “all are in the circle of threat.”

He also stressed the necessity of opening the door of a political solution in Syria, saying the regime is ready for a settlement with the moderate opposition rather than the terrorist.
