SULTANATE’S FIRST WATER THEME PARK TO OPEN IN 2017

Majarat Oman, the sultanate’s first water theme park will have its soft opening in 2017. The announcement regarding the opening was made recently at an event.

The park will be constructed by the Australian company, Sanderson Group at the Sawadi Beach Resort in Barka. It will be built at a cost of US$120mn.

The company which has developed some of the biggest theme parks around the world, will be constructing the park over 25,000sq m. The park will have the capacity to accommodate 2,500 to 3,000 visitors every day.

Syed Asad Ali, managing partner of Arab Malaysian Development Oman, said, “The amusement park will create more than 300 jobs and will provide valuable entertainment to visitors. A theme park is much needed in the country which aims to become a future hub of tourism and entertainment.

The interesting development is that Sanderson Group will pick up 51 per cent stake in Majarat Oman. It is a world-renowned company and a big name in the amusement industry. We are excited to work with them. The construction will start by this year once we get approval for our final design.”

The FBF Group of Companies Amusement Cities (Arab Malaysian Development company) signed the MoU last year for the development of Majarat Oman.
