MUSCAT: The ministries of Tourism and Heritage and Culture will participate in the World Conference on Tourism and Culture in Siem Reap, Cambodia from Wednesday to Friday.
A press release stated that the sultanate’s delegation is being led by H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism.
“Ministers of tourism and culture from across the world will debate on how to build a new partnership between tourism and culture,” the release stated.
Around 800 delegates including policymakers in tourism and culture, experts on the World Heritage Sites, NGOs, academic institutions and private sector stakeholders will take part in the event. It will also focus on the economic growth, social development and heritage preservation. The meet will address a wide range of issues including governance models, promotion, protection and safeguarding culture, role of creative industries and urban regeneration as a vehicle for sustainable development.
