MUSCAT: Taking further its effort to go paperless, the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) plans to introduce electronic payment for all its services soon. Asila Mohammed al Kalbany, Director of MoM’s Information Systems and Internet Application Department said, “The e-payment system will be launched in three months’ time after the necessary trials.
Our goal is to provide services through various channels so that people do not have to take the pain of visiting ministry offices. Sanad offices across the country will be one such channel.”
Individuals and companies will be able to pay service fees or penalties online. “For example, public relations officers usually visit MoM offices for visa clearances and payments. They will be able to do this through our website or app. All the company representative or an individual has to do is approach the ROP to get the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) facility activated on ID card.
“PKI gives the user a secured identity to conduct transactions. Once you have the PKI facility installed in your ID card, you will automatically get an ID and a password to avail e-payment facility,” she said.
