Sleiman: to take advantage of international climate and elect president

FEBRUARY 3, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former president Michel Sleiman on Tuesday highlighted the necessity to take advantage of the current international climate, which he deemed as “conducive” to carrying out the presidential elections without any foreign interference.

“This responsibility is that of the Parliament exclusively, and the internal solution remains the best,” he said.

Sleiman made these remarks during his meeting today with Deputy Speaker Farid Makari, Telecom Minister Boutros Harb, Displaced Minister Alice Shabtini, and Youth and Sports Minister Abdul Mottaleb Hennaoui.

Sleiman also met today with French envoy Jean-François Girault and French Ambassador to Lebanon, Patrice Paoli, as well as the accompanying delegation.

“I highly value the wisdom and perspicacity of President Michel Sleiman,” Girault told reporters on emerging. He did not make any further remarks.

Afterwards, Sleiman met with Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Awadh Asseri, over the current general situation.

He later welcomed National Defense Minister Samir Moqbel and MP Elie Marouni.
