JANUARY 13, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former president Michel Sleiman on Tuesday visited Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdullatif Darian at Dar-al-Fatwa, with whom he discussed the spiraling terrorism, in addition to an array of current political affairs.
“I value the role assumed by the Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdullatif Darian; and this requested from all the spiritual leaders in Lebanon and the Arab world, in order to renew the religious speech and raise awareness among extremist youth,” he told reporters following the meeting.
Condemning terrorism, Sleiman upped calls for solidarity and for supporting the judicial and security institutions, as well as the spiritual references, in order to face this epidemic.
He went on to say that the state was also responsible for confronting terrorism, through achieving social justice, acting firmly, and refusing blackmailing.
“The state is also responsible for neutrality,” Sleiman added, pointing out to Baabda Declaration.
The former president later visited Druze Sheikh Aql, Naeem Hassan, and discussed with him latest developments on the Lebanese and Arab scenes.
