JANUARY 30, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The head of the Future parliamentary bloc, former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, reported Friday that his political group condemned and opposed any military operation against any Arab land and every Arab individual.
“But condemnation is one thing, and involving Lebanon in these operations is another,” he insisted, on the sidelines of his meetings with delegations from Sidon.
“It is unacceptable that a Lebanese group makes decisions and acts in a way that involves Lebanon [in such operations] without the approval of the constitutional institutions, government and Parliament (…),” he added in reference to the involvement of Hezbollah in Syria, the Israeli attack on Syria’s Qunaitra and the response of the party through the Shebaa Farms operation.
Pertaining to the presidential election, Siniora stressed that the absence of a head of state has a major impact on Lebanon “where nothing is going as it should be,” calling for making the election of a president the main concern and first priority.
Finally, addressing the issue of dialogue between the Future Movement and Hezbollah, he explained that the goal was to reduce tension in the country because the Lebanese are committed to coexistence.
