Shehayeb: 8 truck drivers currently in Jordan, will be in Lebanon Monday, efforts are underway to ensure 9th driver’s safe return

APRIL 12, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Agriculture Minister, Akram Shehayeb, disclosed Sunday that “the eight truck drivers are currently safe in Jordan and will be back in Lebanon Monday on board an MEA flight,” adding that “efforts are underway to know the whereabouts of the 9th driver and ensure his safe return as well.”

After a series of contacts during the last 72 hours following-up on the Lebanese drivers’ issue, Shehayeb released a press statement thanking the Jordanian officials for their cooperation and response to the relentless efforts exerted by Lebanese PM Tammam Salam, Interior Minister Nuhad el-Mashnouq, and Jordanian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nabil Massarwa, to ensure the safety of the Lebanese drivers.
