Salam pays tribute to late Hariri: He was a true believer in the state

FEBRUARY 13, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, on Friday paid tribute to late martyr, Prime Minister Rafik Hairi, describing him as a man who “truly believed in the Lebanese state”.

“Marking late Hariri’s ten year commemoration, we bow with respect to the person who made Lebanon his first and everlasting passion. He exerted unremitting efforts, till his last breath, to attain peace, security, honour, sovereignty, and independence in Lebanon,” Salam said in a statement issued today.

“He truly believed that Lebanon would never enjoy salvation outside the frame of the state. (…) He had sought the best means to fortify the legitimate security apparatuses, whom he had always believed to be solely responsible for the security of Lebanon and the Lebanese,” Salam added in his statement.

“Now that Rafik Hariri is gone, we have lost a great leader who exerted himself to replace Lebanon on the world map, and to give it a special place in the Arab world, especially after the ghastly war,” Salam’s statement read.
