JANUARY 23, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON)Prime Minister Tammam Salam delivered on Friday the following statement:

“With grief and sorrow we mourn the wise Arab leader, the friend of Lebanon, the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, who passed away after a long journey full of giving for his country and nation.

With the loss of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Lebanon has lost a great support, a person who stood by its side in calamities and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to it, a person who backed every initiative that enhances internal reconciliation, achieves Lebanese national unity, supports peace and stability in the country, strengthens the state and its institutions and brings along goodness and strength for the Lebanese.

Arabs and Muslims have also lost a brilliant and courageous leader who carried their concerns and issues in his heart, on top of which the Palestinian cause. He always sought to reunite peoples and strengthen cohesion among them so as to achieve the best for their countries, hence enhances the status of the Arab and Islamic nation in the world.

As we share the sorrow of the late King’s family and that of the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia in this ordeal, we consider His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Lebanon’s loss as well, and we affirm that the Lebanese people will keep him alive in their memories and hearts.

Our condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz. We offer them, on behalf of the Lebanese government and people, our heartfelt condolences and we pray for God to facilitate their duties.”
