Salam after cabinet session: Any constitutional institution is fruitless if we continue as we are

July 30, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Information Minister Ramzi Jreij quoted PM Tammam Salam after the cabinet session as saying, “If we fail to find radical solutions to the continuity of cabinet work amidst the vacancy in presidency, we will reach big deficit. My hopes not to forsake Lebanon, Lebanese, and our national responsibilities. If we continue as we are like now, any cabinet session or constitutional institution will turn fruitless.”

A cabinet session on Thursday was held at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of PM Tammam Salam, with Information Minister Ramzi Jreij reading the outcome of the session.

Turning to the wastes issue, Jreij quoted Salam as depicting the issue as “a national catastrophe that not only threats the health and environmental climate but the ethical, political and national ones also.”

He went on to quote him as explaining that “the ministerial committee tasked to handle the trash issue is pressing big efforts to solve the issue, yet the ongoing political conflict in numerous regions and at different levels is hindering the path towards reaching any exit to the problem. PM Salam accordingly called upon political forces to keep their political disputes aside and be united to cast away such major epidemic from Lebanon.”
