SALALAH: Salalah Rotana Resort recently appointed 20-year hospitality veteran, Hossam Kamal, as its new general manager.

With a career spanning over a decade within the Rotana Group, working at properties in UAE and Egypt, the seasoned professional has now taken the helm of the group’s first five-star resort in the sultanate and the country’s largest freestanding hotel, a press release said last week.

Rotana’s area vice president for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in UAE and Dhofar, Greg Allan, said, “The greatest asset in our industry is people and we therefore nurture the potential of our employees and enhance their capacities to create Rotana’s future leaders. Kamal is the perfect example of someone who has grown exponentially within the group, having worked across different departments beginning at the front office and working his way up the ladder.

He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry, but more importantly in the Rotana philosophy of treasured time. We are confident that he will take the resort to even greater heights.”

Kamal said, “The resort’s many successes in its opening year is promising and means there is vast potential for growth which I look forward to exploring. My team is ambitious, passionate and eager to develop professionally and I hope to share my years in this industry with them while also learning from them. Our aim is to continue to raise benchmarks as a landmark in setting the tone of hospitality in Oman to drive the industry’s development.”
