ROYAL OMAN POLICE NEWS: ROP ARRESTS 78 INFILTRATORS

MUSCAT: Seventy eight infiltrators were arrested last week from various governorates. The ROP also deported 94 infiltrators of various nationalities arrested earlier.

Prohibited wireless devices seized

Customs officials at the Hafeit border crossing in Ibri have seized prohibited wireless devices from a GCC national who was trying to smuggle them into the sultanate.

The items were found in his vehicle during checks. Officials found six wireless radio devices and 14 wireless receivers hidden inside a washing machine being transported on the vehicle. All items have been confiscated and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.

In another case, officials at the checkpost thwarted an attempt to smuggle prohibited cigarettes into the country. The consignment has been seized and the case referred to the Public Prosecution.

Three held with 62kg cannabis

The ROP, in coordination with the Coast Guard, has arrested three Asians for trying to smuggle in drugs by sea. Cannabis capsules weighing a total of 62kg were seized from their boat. Coast Guard patrol vessel pursued the boat as it approached the Seeb beach and made the arrest.
