JANUARY 18, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The trial of Roumieh prison inmates would wrap up within a couple of months, minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi promised family members of prisoners as he met with them at Tripoli mosque of as-Salam today.
Having listened to their demands, the general retorted that it would be impossible for him to undo a 30-year-old Syrian work of oppression and promised to organize visits for them to the prison within a short notice.
The minister added that inmates would be returned soon to their original ward once works of repair get finished and fixed telephone lines installed.
Rifi quoted Minister Nohad Mashnouk as confirming that inmates actually enjoy an enhanced health status especially with both Prosecutor-General security chiefs promising to facilitate visits and securing proper inmate health care.
Rifi also quoted General Security Chief Ibrahim Basbous as vowing to provide inmates with all of their basic needs and by investigating any arising malpractices.
