Rai hopes dialogue will pave way to elect president

JANUARY 27, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai called on the Lebanese to swiftly elect a president as vacuum at the presidency led to the paralysis of the parliament and the lack of productivity in cabinet, hoping that “dialogue among rival parties would pave the way to a solution to the presidential deadlock.”

His remarks came during the meeting with Catholic Bishops at Bkirki.

Rahi also urged the Arab world and the international community to resolve the Syrian crisis politically and work to resolve the situation in Syria and Iraq in a peaceful way, to stop supporting terrorist groups and to close the borders.
