APRIL 26, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) We pray so that warlords fear God, Maronite patriarch Beshara Rahi stated in his Sunday homily at the Lady’s Cathedral in Paris today.
We pray so that Lebanese politicians assume full responsibility in electing a new president, otherwise, their attitude will be construed as a further violation of the Constitution tantamount to stabbing the fatherland in the back, he warned.
Aided by a number of cardinals including the Apostolic Nuncio in Paris and a Greek Orthodox bishop, Rahi recited to his congregation (including Gibran Bassil), verses from the New Testament denoting the ever-present Jesus in the midst of his Apostles; Christ ordered the Twelve to become shepherds and fishermen of the faithful, he went on.
As Rahi celebrated the Holy Liturgy, he warned against retreating human values in an epoch of technological advancement; he urged a quick end to the war in Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Also thanks to the good offices of noble France we would pursue an early breakthrough in the presidential vacuum before the Temple comes tumbling down on heads of us all, he concluded.
