OCTOBER 27, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Maronite Patriarch Mar Beshara Rahi on Monday saluted the heroes of the Lebanese Army who are fighting a battle against terrorism.
Rahi, currently in Australia’s New South Wales, said that the military institution was a source of pride and dignity for all the Lebanese.
Speaking during an honorary ceremony to Rahi upon the invitation of the parish priest Bishop Antoine Charbel Torbey, Rahi voiced full support to the Army and expressed sincere condolences for the martyrs’ families.
The Maronite prelate urged Arab states to end the war between them and called on the international community to put an end to the reasons of these wars and stop funding them.
Separately, Rahi met with New South Wales Prime Minister and discussed with him the situation in the Middle East.
Rahi stressed during the meeting the role of Australia, within the international community, to end ongoing violence in Lebanon.
