Rahi bound for Australia on pastoral visit

OCTOBER 23, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rahi on Thursday afternoon left Beirut heading to Australia, as part of a two-week pastoral visit.

Patriarch Rahi is accompanied by Vicar General Boulos Sayyah, “Catholic Information Center” Head, Father Abdo Abu Kasem, Patriarchal Media Officer, Walid Ghayad, and Bank of Beirut Public Relations Official, Antoine Habib.

Seeing the Patriarch off at International Rafic Hariri Airport have been the President of the General Maronite Council, former Minister Wadih Khazen, and Head of the Maronite League, Samir Abi Lamaa.

Speaking prior to departure, Patriarch Rahi said that he is carrying with him “Lebanon’s love” to the Lebanese emigrants in Australia, not to mention the deeply entrenched relations between Lebanon, the homeland, and the Diaspora- akin to the rock-solid Cedar tree.

Rahi shall also relay to the Lebanese emigrants the necessity that they preserve their Lebanese originality, ties and traditions.
