PM: Belgium ready to call in army to boost security

JANUARY 16, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Prime Minister of Belgium, Charles Michel, announced on Friday that his country is ready to call in army to aid in reinforcing security.

The PM held a press conference today following a Cabinet session that endorsed over 12 measures to improve anti-terrorism.

Belgian Interior Minister clarified that the troops would be called on once the alert level reaches a three out of a scale of four.

This would mark the first time that Belgium uses the army for internal security following the communist attacks back in the 1980s.
