APRIL 20, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Hospitality Services on Monday inaugurated the 22nd edition of the annual event for hospitality and food services, Horeco Exhibition, at BIEL, under the auspices and in presence of Minister of Tourism, Michel Pharaon.
In a word delivered on the occasion, the Minister reminded that the tourism sector had dropped by 40% in 2014, indicating that the Live Love Lebanon campaign was launched in order to introduce new dynamics to the ailing tourism sector in the country, especially amid the prevailing political tensions, terrorist threats, and the security plan carried out by the government with the support of the civil society.
“Owing to this challenge and our faith, we managed to score growth especially in the summer season, where growth ratio reached 23%, to augment to 25% by the end of 2014.
“During the first trimester of the present year, tourism growth reached 28%, whereas the augmentation thanks to Gulf tourists reached 100%,” he indicated.
“We confirm that art, innovation and restaurants in Lebanon are in good condition,” he concluded.
