MUSCAT: Park Inn by Radisson opened in Duqm on Thursday under the auspices of H H Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad bin Tariq al Said. Located 10km from the Port of Duqm, this is the brand’s third hotel in Oman.
“Park Inn by Radisson has already established a reputation worldwide as one of the leading midscale hotels in the region. Normally, other hotel rooms are of 30sq m space, but our rooms at Duqm are 80sq m. The rooms are equipped with kitchen facilities so that people can cook as well,” said Rabih Zein, general manager, Park Inn Duqm.
The property has 73 accommodation units, with 50 one-bedroom chalets, eight two- bedroom villas, 13 one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments. The Park Inn also offers free Wi-fi, swimming pool, gym, tennis court, children’s playground and three international dine-ins.
Safana al Barwani, director of Musstir, the real estate company that undertook construction of the property said, “With US$10bn as investment, the government has chosen Duqm to be at the forefront of development in the country.” She added that the area will develop with the Duqm port coming up by year-end.
“Duqm will be a major hub for business as well as for travellers to Salalah halting during their journey. However, we are not targeting it [Park Inn] as an ITC, but a full-fledged hotel and a resort.”
The hotel will be expanding in the future as Duqm offers huge potential. “As an emerging economic and industrial hub, Duqm offers huge potential in transforming itself into the next business and weekend escape destination due to its location on the coast of Oman,” said Mark Willis, area vice president, Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa for the Rezidor Hotel Group.
“Park Inn by Radisson Hotel and Residence Duqm takes our growing Middle East portfolio to 30 hotels and 8,000 rooms,” he added.
