MUSCAT: As part of its revamp, Oman Post plans to fight competition from private players by opening offices in malls and supermarkets.
These offices will remain open till late in a bid to increase customer base and bring in more revenues. Speaking to Muscat Daily, an official from the postal department said, “We are competing against private players who are going all out to attract more customers and business. This move is to retain customer base and attract more business.”
He said that all Oman Post offices, except the Ruwi and the airport ones, remain open from 8am to 2pm only.
“The Ruwi and airport offices remain open till 7pm, whereas private courier offices are open till 10pm, and we are losing out on business. So, the aim is to open offices in malls and supermarkets which get increased footfall in the evenings. Many people visit these malls and supermarkets after office hours. These places are open till 10 to 11pm. He said Oman Post’s offices in malls and supermarkets will remain open till 9pm.
“This way we will get more business and reach a wider customer base.”
