MUSCAT: The Oman Medical Association (OMA) will host its first-ever scientific conference from November 4-5 at Grand Hyatt Muscat.
Fifty-six lecturers from countries including Germany, UK, Austria, Malaysia and Oman will discuss issues related to medical ethics, paediatrics, surgery, medical laws, obstetrics and gynaecology. There will be 400 participants from Oman and abroad. “The conference is an opportunity for experts and people in the field of medicine and its related areas to meet, share their expertise and experience,” said Dr Waleed al Zadjali, president of OMA. “It is also an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the professionals and share ideas on common issues related to patient care, education and research.”
Dr Amal al Hashmi, vice president, OMA, said, “I strongly believe that this meeting will provide an excellent opportunity to advance communication between clinicians, academics and researchers from abroad as well as local health professionals. This will definitely have an impact on our patient care.”
Guests will also be taken on tours around Muscat to help promote tourism, an official said.
OMA was established under a Royal Decree in 2001 to help raise awareness about health issues, increase the level of professionalism in the Omani medical community and act as a link to the Ministry of Health (MoH), according to Dr Zadjali.
OMA, like other associations, works under the Ministry of Social Development. The conference is being supported by the Diwan of Royal Court, Royal Court Affairs, MoH and The Research Council.
