JANUARY 22, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Top nuclear envoys of South Korea, the United States and Japan will meet in Tokyo on January 28 to discuss the North Korean nuclear issue.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that the envoys are expected to discuss ways to resume the long-stalled six-party talks and restrain the North’s nuclear program.
The foreign ministry said last week during its policy report to the president that it would seek progress in inter-Korean relations and denuclearization in the North.
It is the first time in nine months that the trilateral meeting will take place. It will also be the first time that U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Sung Kim will take part in the meeting since his appointment at the end of last year.
