JANUARY 18, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The National News Agency delegation, chaired by Director Laure Sleiman Saab, wound up its visit to Tehran by a dinner hosted by the Ambassador of Lebanon, Fadi Ali Hajj, in the presence of the Director of International Relations of the Iranian news agency IRNA, Ali Bayandi. The visit came upon an official invitation by the Iranian news agency.
Sleiman thanked Ambassador Hajj Ali and the Embassy staff for their efforts during the visit, stressing the concern of the NNA to be equidistant from all, as instructed by Minister of Information, Ramzi Jreije and the Director General, Hassan Falha. This concern focused on professionalism and the publication of valid and objective information.
After its tour in Isfahan, the NNA delegation met with Armenian Orthodox bishop, Lebanese national Bankine Jarian in the seat of the Archbishop. The prelate expressed interest in the affairs of Lebanon.
The Archbishop spoke of the condition of minorities in Iran, including the Armenian community, noting that Muslims, Christians and Jews lived in peace and security, and shared respectful relationships. He noted that minorities were well integrated into Iranian society.
He recalled that the Armenian community was represented by four MPs in Parliament, adding that they were actively involved in politics and practiced their traditions and religious rituals freely like other minorities.
Also within the context of the visit, Sleiman met with former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghadanfar Roknabadi, who hoped that the Lebanese elect a president in the nearest time, recalling that Iran continued to support Lebanon and its legal institutions.
