FEBRUARY 15, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, said Sunday that “Hezbollah supports the election of a strong Lebanese President, and not one who would cover money sharks in the country.”
Qassem’s words came in his delivered speech marking the commemoration of Resistance Martyr Leaders Abbas Moussawi, Sheikh Ragheb Harb and Imad Mughnieh, in a memorial ceremony held in the town of Jibshit in the South.
“Our project is one of liberation and independence, and protection of the future,” said Qassem, adding that “the Resistance is the only solution available in face of the Israeli enemy’s threats, to liberate the land and protect the future, especially in wake of the global village and the international control over peoples’ fates.”
“We have decided not to give up, nor to succumb to blackmail or to the teachings they are trying to disseminate amongst us,” said Qassem.
“We are in a time of resistance and no longer living in the times of surrender,” Qassem went on, stressing that “we are in the time of victories and the decision of the people.”
He went on to point to the Takfiri threats, saying “hitting their project at any point denotes a protection element for us, which is an integral part of the resistance project, and it is better for us to fight them in the other street than at our doors,” he noted.
Over internal affairs, Qassem indicated that “Hezbollah has facilitated security and political stability in Lebanon, making major contributions to the work of State institutions.”
“I can say that Hezbollah has given the State, and did not take anything from it, since the Party’s aim is the integration between the State and Resistance within the tripartite-power formula of the army, people and resistance,” noted Qassem.
He concluded by stressing “the importance of dialogue with the Future Movement,” which he considered “appropriate to overcome the obstacles and difficulties facing the country and search for common points,” expressing the Party’s full conviction in pursuing it further.
