MUSCAT: News of Al Maha Ceramic’s plans on capacity expansion, market speculation, and interest in beaten down stocks all played a role in supporting activities on the MSM on Wednesday.
The benchmark MSM30 index closed flat at 6,691.84. Turnover and volumes increased by 35.8 per cent and 17.4 per cent, respectively.
The Industrial index topped the gainers list, adding 0.94 per cent to 8,734.73, mainly supported by Galfar, while the Financial index ended unchanged. The Services index registered a slight decline of 0.05 per cent.
The Shariah index gained 0.22 per cent to close at 1,006.16 at the end of the trading day.
Top gainers included Galfar, Al Maha Ceramics and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, while losers included Al Madina Investment, BankDhofar and Ooredoo.
