Moqbel welcomes Grazziano, Armenian counterpart

APRIL 14, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of National Defense, Samir Moqbel, on Tuesday welcomed at his office in the Ministry with Italian Chief of Staff, General Claudio Grazziano, on top of a military delegation, accompanied by Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Giuseppe Morabito.

Talks reportedly touched on the military cooperation between the two countries, in addition to the activities of the Italian contingent operating within the UNIFIL.

Moreover, Moqbel met with the Head of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Ivana Hrdlickova.

This is her first visit to Lebanon, after being elected on top of the STL.

Furthermore, Moqbel received Lebanese Army Chief, General Jean Qahwaji.

Moqbel later met with his Armenian counterpart, Seyran Oharian, on top of a military delegation, accompanied by Armenian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ashot Kotcharian.

The pair discussed the bilateral military cooperation and the reactivation of a related agreement signed in that respect, in addition to Armenia’s participation in the UNIFIL.

“We pay a great importance to the participation of our country in the UNIFIL. We support this friendly country and a people that had welcomed the victims of the genocide committed by the Turkish,” the Armenian Minister said in the wake of the feelings.

“We also discussed the security situation in the region and in South Caucasus. We are concerned over the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East,” Ohanian indicated.
