Mikati regrets loss of ‘big brother’ with death of King Abdullah

JANUARY 23, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON)Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Friday that with the death of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the nation has lost the king of all Arabs, who spent his life as prince, crown prince, and devoted his days in the service of Arab causes and Islamic reconciliations.

“With his departure, Saudi Arabia has lost a father and a leader. During his tenure, the Kingdom became a pioneer of moderate Islam,” a statement by Mikati’s office said.

“With his departure, Lebanon has lost a big support and brother. The late king has never hesitated to extend his hand and sponsor dialogue between all sides.”

“King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Lebanon’s friend, will carry the torch of development and dignity, will support the just causes of Arabs and Muslims, all in the presence of Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz,” Mikati’s statement concluded.
