Mikati: Lebanon fortifies stance by joining ranks facing enemy

JANUARY 30, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, expressed in his weekly stance before his Tripoli visitors on Friday, his firm belief that what had happened in South Lebanon two days ago, was a mere reaction to the recent Israeli attack on Hezbollah elements.

“It’s in no one’s interest to shake the relatively calm security situation in South Lebanon or to turn against International Security Council’s resolution 1701, which is sponsored by UNIFIL and implemented in cooperation with the Lebanese army,” Mikati told his visitors.

“The military operation which had been carried out by the resistance in Shebaa Farms is a response to the repeated Israeli attacks. This is a confirmation that the Israeli enemy only understands the language of force, and that the balance of terror remains the only deterrent against the Israeli enemy’s aggressions,” added Mikati, hoping that this process will not expose Lebanon to dire consequences.

“We have confidence in the wisdom of the resistance’s leadership and in its intention to spare Lebanon potential risks, especially amid the critical national station.”

Mikati concluded by asserting that fortifying the Lebanese stance, amid the prevailing circumstances, only happened by having Lebanese political parties join ranks in the face of Lebanon’s “arrogant enemy”.
