MUSCAT: Zawawi Trading Company, the authorized general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Oman, successfully completed an extensive fleet-check for its commercial vehicles in Sohar.

An integral part of Mercedes-Benz on-going commitment to delivering the best customer experience, the week-long initiative is an integrated concept specially developed as a pre-emptive measure to support business customers maintain their vehicles as well as upgrade their driver skill-sets.

“Our bi-annual fleet-check programme ensured that our customer trucks are maintained and running at their optimum level. In addition, we gave the opportunity for drivers to upgrade their skills under the guidance of qualified Mercedes-Benz advanced driving instructors,” explained Daniel Fitzjohn, general manager – commercial vehicles, Zawawi Trading Company.

Headed by German factory-trained expert Werner Uebele, a team of highly skilled Mercedes-Benz mechanics provided Sohar-based fleet customers with on-site support and inspections of their trucks.

Providing focused and tailored service propositions, Uebele and his technicians ensured that the trucks were fully functional; technical defects and potential problems were identified and resolved – maximising the trucks’ road time and ensuring operational efficiency for the fleets.

“All aspects of this service are underpinned by our Mercedes-Benz uncompromising quality standards,” emphasised Uebele who, due to his advanced skills, is known as the ‘Flying Doctor’. “Fleet check offers a highly professional and individual level of care which not only meets, but exceeds customer expectations.”

Accompanying the ‘Flying Doctor’ and his team were expert certified driver trainer Daimler Middle East and Levant’s Visvonata Maulincar.

During the visit the trainer honed the skills of fleet drivers in the Sohar area focusing on driving to promote safety as well as saving fuel and maintenance costs.

Planned to accommodate the schedule of Mercedes-Benz Sohar customers, fleet-check comprised of free vehicle inspections, including all safety-relevant features of the truck and trailer; complimentary rectification of minor faults; basic maintenance training; and vehicle inspection reports. A special customer discount on maintenance and spare parts packages was made available.
