MUSCAT: Mercedes-Benz Academy U17 Team beat TAISM 7-1 in the first match of the year played at TAISM Sports ground recently.

Mercedes-Benz Academy Team started the game confidently and quickly established a 1-0 lead. After five minutes, Abdullah al Barwani burst down the right and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net. Indeed, it was Barwani again who doubled the lead after 12 minutes after good build-up play from Sultan al Harty and Sultan al Balushi who eventually set the ball for Barwani to fire his second goal of the game.

The Mercedes-Benz Academy Team was causing TAISM lots of problem with their passing and movement and it quickly became 3-0 when Amr Alaa provided a great bit of skill by dribbling past two TAISM defenders before being stopped by the third one illegally which resulted in a penalty kick.

Alaa himself step up confidently and dispatched the penalty kick with ease to make the score 3-0. TAISM were providing little threat but managed to score when Hussein Noureldin punished an error from the Mercedes-Benz Academy defence to make the score 3-1.

There was still time for one more goal before half time which again went to the Mercedes-Benz Academy Team. This time it was the turn of Mohammed al Ansahri to get on the score sheet. He easily rounded the keeper and fired into a empty net after a great pass from the creative Thamer Masoud Salim al Musalami.

There was no let up in the second half for TAISM as the Mercedes-Benz Academy boys continued to press forward creating chances and looking to add to the already impressive score line. They eventually sealed the game 7-1.
