APRIL 21, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nuhad Al-Mshnouq commented on the call of Islamist prisoners’ families upon him to resign, saying he would not do so unless he sensed he made a mistake in the application of the law.
“I am acting in accordance with the law, so I refuse to resign,” he said in an interview with the mtv channel.
He noted that the injured in the Roumieh prison clashes were five of the military elements.
“Two of the fourteen military elements who were detained by prisoners were fiercely beaten, and I say this for the first time. Every person involved in this attack will be punished severely.”
Tackling the security leaders’ appointment file, Mashnouq said: “We must not rush it. We have time until the fifth of June to decide.”
