JANUARY 6, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The ministry remains pretty favourable towards depoliticizing Naameh garbage dump pretty far from political bidding, minister of the Environment Muhammad Mashnouk, told government-run Lebanon radio station programme today.
Draft-plans to attract tenders are in the offing pending the finalization of what he termed “the book of specifications”.
Refusing the immediate closure of the garbage dump on grounds of avoiding further harm done to people and his so-called “transitional phase”!
He duly offered local folks certain material incentives albeit, they must appreciate his position, as he said.
We need a respite to deal with garbage disposal otherwise, our streets would overflow with rubbish, he warned.
It is up to teams of private contractors to fix new locations for garbage disposal and let the solution quietly take place behind the scenes in a rather patriotic fashion and by letting our folks give us further chances to execute my plan, Mashnouk concluded.
