MUSCAT: The Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year is not just about celebrations but also an occasion when families get together to enjoy good food.

Muscat’s popular Chinese outlet, Mamasan, will be serving delicious set-price menus from February 19 to 24 that will have the diners talking about it for days to come.

Mamasan is most popular for its mouth-watering selection of dim sums, steamed or pan-fried, available in nine varieties that include lobsters, scallops, shrimps, beef, chicken or vegetable fillings.

The restaurant’s master chefs Jiajun He and Li Tenglong offer a range of delicacies ranging from the Cantonese, Szechuan, Beijing and Shanghai provinces. One of the signature dishes that has proved to be extremely popular with the patrons is the Beijing Duck.

On the occasion of Chinese New Year, diners can choose from an option of two set menus for lunch or dinner that will cost RO10.900 net per person (minimum for two people).

The starter will offer a dim sum basket in common along with another choice of starter. This would be followed by house special Beijing Roast Duck with handmade pancakes, a choice of meat or seafood stir-fry and vegetable stir fry along with vegetable fried rice or noodles.

“While we are offering set menus during the Chinese New Year, we have incorporated our best dishes that our patrons have appreciated, be it the dim sums or the Beijing Duck.

“The flavours are sure to entice those who have not had an opportunity to eat at Mamasan earlier,” said Lawrence D’sa, general manager, Four Seasons Tourism.

While the Chinese New Year is definitely one of the biggest celebrations in the Chinese calendar, the food served at Mamasan is reason enough to celebrate any day. So combine the two and usher in the Year of the Goat with family and friends at Mamasan. To avoid disappointment, it is best to call and reserve a table.

The restaurant is now catering to private parties.
