JANUARY 23, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON)The Lebanese Armed Forces Orientation Directorate issued on Friday the following statement:
“Following the advanced ambush set by an army unit last Wednesday night to a number of infiltrating militants near Wadi Homeid checkpoint in Arsal, which left four militants dead, in addition to foiling an attempt to transport a booby trapped car inside Lebanon on 22/01/2015, a terrorist group attacked today morning a surveillance centre for the LAF in Talet el Hamra in the outskirts of Ras Baalbek, on the Lebanese-Syrian border. Violent clashes ensued between a LAF unit and terrorists. The army tightened its grip on Talet el Hamra and ousted the terrorists leaving many injured and dead amongst the militants. A number of LAF soldiers were also martyred and injured.
LAF units continue to deploy and target terrorist gatherings, as well as comb the region in pursuit of hiding militants. ”
