Kanaan: Dialogue with Lebanese Forces goes beyond the presidency issue, lays the foundation for partnership and preserving Christians’ rights

FEBRUARY 21, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) “Change and Reform” Parliamentary Bloc Secretary, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, indicated Saturday that “dialogue with the Lebanese Forces goes far beyond the presidential elections issue, whereby it lays the foundation for the partnership relation between both sides and prevents any undermining of Christians’ rights in the country.”

“Dialogue between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces aims at reaching a radical solution that is to the interest of all the Lebanese,” said Kanaan, speaking during a radio interview to “Voice of Lebanon 100.5” Station.

“What concerns us is to achieve the wish of all Lebanese and Christians, especially at this stage, which is understanding,” added Kanaan.

” Yesterday’s meeting, and all previous meetings, have led to remarkable steps forward,” Kanaan went on, noting that “we have undoubtedly learnt from our clashes and disagreements over 30 years, and have succeeded in developing a framework for our relationship, whereby we have reached common grounds over at least 17 items. ”

“There is no doubt that the key solution to the current crisis is the presidential issue, which imposes itself over all,” said Kanaan, adding that “we have come a long way with regards to determining our vision for the presidency and the specifications required.”

“Mutual work between the FPM and Lebanese Forces is moving seriously and accurately,” noted Kanaan, stressing that “we aspire to reach the best outcome.”
